FAQ's

What's wrong if the Status LED flashes orange once per second?
  • Check the memory card. Reasons for flashing include:
    • The memory card is not inserted.
    • The camera has been triggered since the last time it was armed.
    • There is a message in the EVENTLOG.TXT that needs to be read.
  • If there are no files on the memory card, ensure that the memory card is an MMC or SD and has been formatted with FAT16 file format.
  • For more details, please consult your manual.

How do I improve the clarity of the images Digilant® takes?
  • Increase the amount of light in the scene being monitored.

How do I modify the brightness/darkness of the images?
  • If powered by battery, the power saving mode of the camera may cause the first image in a sequence to be brighter or darker.
  • Camera may be facing direct sunlight or a bright lamp. Ensure that a majority of the light source is behind the camera.

What's wrong if Status LED stays red for a prolonged period of time?
  • Critical error. Turn power off, then on again. If light stays red again, contact your distributor

What if the Digilant® camera stops responding to the remote control?
  • Check battery in remote control.
  • If camera is powered by battery, the power saving mode of the camera disables the infrared receiver until the motion sensor is triggered. Move in front of the camera and try again.
  • If more than one Digilant® camera is in use, please check that the correct remote control is being used.
  • When each Digilant® camera leaves the factory, a remote control is uniquely keyed to it. It is possible however, to have multiple remotes keyed to one camera or multiple cameras keyed to just one remote. If the unique key has been lost, then contact your Digilant® distributor or service center for assistance in having the remote control re-keyed to the camera.

Why does the camera automatically arm when the memory card is inserted?
  • The memory card may have been removed while the camera was armed. If the memory card contains the IRARMED.TXT file, remove it. If not, delete the SETTINGS.TXT file and the automatic arming will cease. Make sure that the Arm when contact is setting is correct. If not connected to an alarm system, this setting should be closed . (Refer to Hardware, page 52).

Why is the alarm relay constantly activated?
  • Check the EVENTLOG.TXT for an error message.
  • If there is no error message and the memory overwrite option is disabled, the memory card may be full.

How do I decrease the sensitivity of the camera (for outdoor areas)?
  • Warm air movement and wind can trigger the motion sensor starting an image capture sequence.
  • Reduce sensitivity to 2 or 3 and ensure that the 'image sequence delay until motion confirmed' has been enabled. This will force the camera to confirm the motion before capturing images.
