CrimCam cuts costs
It may have been almost a decade in the making, but Moreton Bay Systems at Capalaba is now making its own mark on the electronics world.
David Hill is the brain behind a new camera system which has been sold in the UK to check culverts and drains for blockages in flood prone areas.
Mr Hill says the UK Government has saved thousands of dollars in maintenance costs by using the internet to check time-lapse images transmitted from the camera.
With a background as an electronics engineer, Mr Hill employed three engineers to prove his concept of image processing technology without the use of wires and power.
Now, Mr Hill’s invention is the subject of a worldwide patent and he exports across the globe.
“The solar-powered product is in buses in Denmark, construction sites, in national parks, in mines, there are hundreds of applications.”
“This is the only product that we know of that is Australian-made and does not need power,” said CrimCam’s retail sales manager Ross Whyte.
